“I thought I knew everything there was to know about safe sex…” explains Daysha Edewi, spoken word artist, of the latest piece What I Wish Someone Told Me About Having Sex’.

This piece captures the themes of love, lust and loss in relationships in addition to openly exposing and the emotional and mental disadvantages that come with love that aren’t talk about enough.

She continues: “People love to talk about how to avoid STI’s of the physical kind, but nobody likes to talk about the STI’s that can destroy your mind.”

We found it to be very raw, powerful and poetic.

So in short, be careful who you choose to give yourself to emotionally, mentally and physically. Love is choice, so be prepared for the aftermath.

But in the same vein, love isn’t always brutal or heartbreaking.
