The kit sold by artist Jeremy Brown, has been inspired by the likes of 1960’s French artist Yves Klein and various performance art pieces by Andy Warhol.
The idea
Brown thought of the idea after a close friend complimented him on a painting that hung inside his house.
After he told her how the painting was made, she asked him to provide her with the tools to make a similar painting with her husband on their anniversary.
Brown then put together a small package with all of the materials, accompanied with an instructional note of direction for them to follow.
The couple loved the result of the painting and so the idea of ‘Love is Art’ was born.
Putting it togetherAfter the initially piece was made, Brown then spent 6 months researching and developing materials to create a safe project.
He now sells this so called ‘kit’ which encompasses, a treated non-allergenic cotton canvas, a specially-formulated non-toxic, washable paint, plus a large tarp, two pairs of disposable slippers, and a body scrubber for an average price of £40 to £70.
According to Brown, “Art takes patience, dedication, practice, creativity, open mind, and an open heart…so does love. Love is art.”
Love Is Art provides couple with everything they needs to safely make an of abstract expressionistic art piece that can then be stretched, framed and hung on the wall as reminder of the love they have and share.
The kit also provides a unique bonding experience for the couples involved, as they work together as a team to craft their own unique masterpiece.
Brown is renowned for making art during intimacy for over a decade and has exhibited his work in the 2011 Lexus Love Is Art Project – Atlanta, the 2011 Toyota Love Is Art Project – Detroit and the 2011 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
